I grew up in Northern Ontario where summer thunderstorms were pretty common. And then I spent several summers working as a fire lookout in Alberta, where part of my job was watching and reporting thunder clouds and lightning strikes. Here on the Atlantic, thunder storms are pretty rare, and I really miss their lightshows and power.

These thunderstorm mugs in red clay have raised clouds and gold  lustre lightning bolts. They are approximately 4 inches tall and hold about 12 - 14 oz each.

All mugs are hand built and hand decorated, meaning no two are ever exactly the same. I use a clear glaze over applied slips and underglazes. My glazes have been tested for food safety. Mugs with a  metallic finish are NOT microwave safe, and I encourage hand washing for longevity.
